We can agree that tort reform is a part of the solution.
But tort reform must include systemic streamlining and simplification of the legal process, making it more easily accessible to more people without racking up exorbitant legal "billable hours."
Lawyers may not like it, but that systemic reform and simplification is what is needed.
Just reducing the amounts allowed for damages absolves wrongdoers of personal and corporate responsibility and is not the solution.
Current Republican proposals do little do help physicians and much to protect giant insurance corporations, giant For Profit Hospital corporations and Big Pharma from having any consequences for negligently even purposely hurting patients.
Tort reform has been the number one agenda issue for corrupt corporate CEOs. If it passes in the Republican (written for and by CEOs) quality health care will decline precipitously in this country. Infant mortality in the US will sky rocket and life expectency go into a steep decline.
You see Rush when CEOs do not have to fear any legal or financial liabilities, they do what gets profit and their salaries higher, no matter how many are injured or killed.
