the Republicans in Congress play both sides of the coin.
Yes they are like a rich arrogant French aristocrat in their attitude towards the common medical insurance consumer (and those aspiring to be).
But they and their tea baggin' henchmen (modern American conservatives) are actually more akin to the French revolutionaries who despised government and saw no value in it - to the point that they were not able to govern.
In Newsweek June 1, Jon Meacham quotes Sam Tanenhaus, the author of The Death of Conservatism. To Tanenhaus, the Republicans of 2009 have more in common with the revolutionaries of France than with those of America: "They routinely demonize government institutions, which they depict as the enemy of the people. But to classical conservatives, the two entities, government and society, are mutually dependent.
Think about that next time you see a mob of self appointed patriots screaming against health care.
